My approach to counselling is gentle, collaborative, and centred around you. I work from a person-centred foundation, which means I believe that real change happens when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. I also work in an integrative way, drawing on different approaches when they feel helpful. I believe you are the expert in your own life and that therapy should move at a pace that feels right for you. I won’t judge, analyse, or tell you what you “should” do instead I’ll offer a calm and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings safely.
You are never expected to come with everything figured out. Some people arrive with a clear idea of what they want to talk about; others simply know that something feels difficult or out of balance. Wherever you find yourself, we begin there.
For some people, having space to talk and be heard is enough. For others, it can be helpful to explore patterns, emotions, or the impact of past experiences. When it feels appropriate and you’re comfortable, I may bring in ideas from other approaches, such as elements of CBT, to support your understanding or help you develop new ways of managing difficulties. This is always done gently and collaboratively - never pushed or prescriptive.
My aim is to support you in understanding yourself more fully and finding ways of coping that genuinely work for you. However therapy unfolds, it’s about creating space for you to feel supported as you move towards what feels right in your life.
